Introducing: Hexie Framed Quilt Pattern

I’m super excited to introduce this new quilt pattern!  A fun jelly roll friendly Hexie Quilt.

Hexagons are super popular right now in quilts and this is a fun twist to the classic Hexie quilt.   I’ve yet to attempt a Y seam so this pattern is made up of half hexies which go together in rows and are much easier to piece.  I recommend a good hexie ruler.  I use this one.

The whole process of writing this pattern was a really fun one.   I’m always up for a new challenge and I knew sooner or later I would attempt a pattern.   My original Hexie Framed quilt resulted in a lot of requests for a pattern so it was the perfect opportunity to dive right in!

Hexie framed is the perfect Jelly Roll quilt as it uses 2.5″ strips.   I love precuts and I love patterns that make them easy to use.

For the twin size I chose Vanessa Christensen’s new Color Theory Line.   And I happened to have a fat eighth bundle on hand so I cut my strips from that.   This hexie quilting pattern shows off fabric lines really well.  It’s great for those fabrics you adore and really want to display.

I machine quilted this one with straight lines using my walking foot.  I use this walking foot for my Janome machine.

I went with a gray 108″ wide backing and gray binding to match.

You can find this pattern in my shop!

A hexagon ruler (around 4.5″)  is helpful for this pattern but not necessary as a template is included.  I use this one.
