Triangle Peaks Quilt – The Kona Cotton solids quilt

Today I’m excited to show you the Triangle Peaks quilt.  I love a good triangle quilt and came up with this one after some sketching in Illustrator.  Triangle peaks is a fast and easy quilt pattern that can be tackled by the beginner or anyone who wants a quick modern quilt finish.

Triangle Quilts

I used to be so intimidated by triangle quilts!  But then I started using a triangle ruler and couldn’t believe how much easier triangles were to piece.  I recommend an 8.5in ruler like this one for Triangle Peaks.  A larger quilt ruler like this will have you covered for all the triangle sizes in the future.

Triangle rulers come with the flat tip which makes piecing and lining up so easy.  I do include templates with the PDF version of this quilt if you are comfortable using templates.

Solid Fabrics

Triangle Peaks quilt is made up of all Kona Cotton solids by Robert Kaufman.  I’ve been expanding my solids collection recently but I still struggle with mixing colors.  My friend Meghan of At Then Came June curated this fun color collection for me.

It reminds me of popsicles in the summer 🙂  And we all need some summer vibes right now when winter seems like it will never end.

Here are the Kona Colors Used:

Accent Triangle:  Ash

Gumdrop
Punch
Melon
Goldfish
Mango
Pond
Mint
Cactus

Fabric Requirements

Use fat quarters or 1/4 yard fabric cuts for Triangle Peaks.  Cutting instructions are included for both.

Triangle Peaks Quilt Sizes

It includes instructions for baby, throw, twin and queen quilt sizes.  This one is fast and easy and fun to make.  I see a few of these in my future.  I made an Amalfi version already that I’ll share in another post.  If you follow along on Instagram you have heard me talk about the studio I’m anxiously waiting to move in to.  It’s not quite ready but I’ve been using the space for quilt photos.   The concrete floor isn’t staying so it’s been fun to use in photos while it’s still visible.  This space is a room in our basement and I’m so excited with the natural light it gets.  That makes taking quilt photos easy and fun.

I’ll be sharing more of this space once I move in to it.  Kaitlyn of Knot and Thread Design quilted Triangle Peaks for me.  I believe this is a loop to loop quilting design.  I love how it contrasts with the geometric triangles.

Triangle Peaks quilt is finished off with a black and white striped binding.  Lately I’ve been loving this wider stripe by Riley Blake Designs.  It feels a little more modern than a thinner black and white striped binding.

Below is another version of Triangle Peaks that I made up in Amalfi by Cotton and Steel.  I’ll share this one on another day.  This pattern is fun with solids or prints.  I mixed up the accent triangles on this version too using different colors of Essex Linen.
