CUTTING
TEST YOUR QUARTER INCH SEAM ALLOWANCE
Quilting is all about that 1/4 inch seam! The next important step after cutting will be sewing with an accurate 1/4 inch seam. This video walks you through testing out your quarter inch seam and different sewing feet you can use.
SEW THE BLOCKS
ADD BORDERS
The video below shows you how to attach your borders. You can use the same method for sashing if you are making the baby or twin size.
Here’s the quick explanation to attach borders:
- Measure your quilt on the vertical down the center.
- Cut two side borders to match that measurement.
- Find the center of each strip and mark it.
- Find the center of the quilt top on each side and mark it.
- Pin matching up the marks.
- Pin the rest of the border on using a generous amount of pins.
- Sew and press border open.
- Repeat for the top and bottom borders.
Border measurements are provided in the pattern but unless your quarter inch seam is exact that may not work for many.
