Lucky Links quilt sewn up in Ooh Lucky Lucky
Today I’m sharing the last Lucky Links quilt sample. This one is sewn up using the new Ooh Lucky Lucky fabric by Ruby Star Society.
Lucky Links is a modern take on the classic Irish Chain quilt block. The Irish chain is paired with a fun and easy fat eighth friendly block. Lucky Links is brand new in the pattern shop.

Lucky Links Irish Chain quilt pattern
Meet Lucky Links! The newest addition to the Quilty Love pattern library. I’ve had this one sketched out for so long now so it’s fun to have it translated to actual fabric. I love the look of the chain block or an Irish chain quilt and have wanted to incorporate it into a quilt design for a while now.
For Lucky Links, I paired the classic chain block with an alternating easy to sew up block. The chain block goes together with some strip piecing shortcuts.
The Lucky Links quilt pattern includes the following quilt sizes:
- Baby size – 40″ x 50″
- Small throw size – 50″ x 60″
- Large throw size – 60″ x 70″
- Small bed size (full size) – 80″ x 90″
- Large bed size (queen or king) – 100″ x 100″ I recommend add borders if you prefer a bigger king size quilt.

It just so happens that Lucky Links was sewn up using Ooh Lucky Lucky. This is such a fun line with snakes (cute ones!), butterflies and even those cute fish. I loved the pinks, the pop of black and that blue color is one of my favorites. I’m always trying to add that color to my stash.
The chain block is Ruby Star society Specked in black. The background is a cream on cream from a previous line.

Lucky Links is a mix and match quilt pattern. So once you cut your block pieces from your fat eighths then you mix the sets to make each block.

Crosshatch quilting on a domestic machine
I decided to quilt this Lucky Links quilt up myself. I’ve been enjoying straight line quilting lately so we went for a diagonal crosshatch pattern. The squares are one inch. You can see the process in action in this YouTube short below or on Instagram here.
This Lucky Links is finished off with a black speckled binding. It’s the same fabric as the chain. The backing is this pretty gingham by Moda.

Here’s some close ups of the quilting. I used a light grey thread hoping it would blend the best.
