Plus Pop Quilt Pattern – A Fun and Easy Stash Buster Quilt for Beginners

I’m so excited to finally share this scrappy rainbow – low volume Plus Pop Quilt with you! This  stash-friendly quilt is quick, easy, and perfect for beginners. It’s one of those quilts that’s just plain fun to sew. It’s cheerful, simple, and super satisfying from start to finish.

The Plus Pop Quilt was inspired by my popular Star Pop II Quilt and features the same playful, modern vibe. It’s made up of one repeating block that comes together in a snap so you can sew this quilt up in a weekend! Just grab a handful of fat quarters from your stash, a little yardage for the plus signs, and you’re ready to start stitching.

You can find the Plus Pop Quilt Pattern in the Quilty Love Pattern Shop.

A Stash-Friendly Quilt Pattern You’ll Love

Plus Pop is designed with your fabric stash in mind. It’s fat quarter friendly, but it also works beautifully with fat eighths, quarter yards, or even scraps. It’s a flexible, stash-busting pattern that helps you make the most of what you already have.

The best part? It’s a one-block quilt, which means it comes together quickly and easily – no complicated piecing here! The pattern includes clever pressing instructions so your seams nest perfectly. That means no pins needed and smooth, crisp joins every time.

Plus Pop Quilt Pattern Sizes

The Plus Pop Quilt Pattern includes instructions for five quilt sizes:

  • Baby size: 48″ x 56″
  • Square throw: 64″ x 64″
  • Large throw: 64″ x 72″
  • Full size bed: 80″ x 96″
  • Queen/King bed: 96″ x 104″

No matter what size you make, this pattern goes together fast and looks great in any color palette from scrappy rainbows to coordinated fat quarter bundles.

Quilting the Plus Pop – The Wavy Stitch

For this scrappy rainbow version of Plus Pop, I did all the quilting myself on my Janome MC6700p. I kept things simple with my favorite wavy stitch quilting, spaced 3/4 inch apart. It gives the quilt a clean, modern texture that lets the fabric shine.

Since this pattern comes together so quickly, it’s the perfect opportunity to finish it off yourself – even on a domestic machine!

Scrap Stash Rainbow Version

I’ve grown to absolutely love scrappy quilts. There’s just something so satisfying about transforming leftover fabric into something beautiful and cohesive.

Scrappy quilts feel like a creative puzzle, and honestly, it’s like making a “free quilt” from what you already have. For this rainbow version, I used low-volume fabrics for the background to keep things bright and neutral, while still adding texture and visual interest. Then I used the rest of my Suzy Quilts Signature Solids for the plus signs.

If you’re looking for a fast, beginner-friendly quilt pattern that helps you use up your fabric stash, the Plus Pop Quilt is it. Whether you make it scrappy or stick to a color-coordinated palette, this pattern is cheerful, modern, and so much fun to sew.

You can find the Plus Pop Quilt Pattern in the Quilty Love Pattern Shop.
