I have another Stash buster Fat Quarter Dash quilt to share! This Fat Quarter Dash quilt is sewn up using the brand new Ruby Star Society Purl fabric line.

Fat Quarter Dash is the second in the Quilty Love Stash buster quilt pattern series. It’s fast, easy and stash friendly.

Fat Quarter Dash is fat quarter friendly. No background fabrics needed for this quilt! Mix and match fat quarters from your stash or use up a ready made bundle you have sitting around.

My goal with this stash buster quilt pattern series is to help you start sewing through your fabric stash!

Fat Quarter Dash is available in the Quilty Love pattern shop.

Ruby Star Society Purl Fabric

I was so excited to make this Fat Quarter Dash with the brand new Ruby Star Society Purl fabric line.

Purl is a fun and whimsical fabric line with knitting motifs. The jewel colors in this line are so beautiful. There are hints of metallic throughout this this fabric line too.

Stash buster Fat Quarter Dash quilt pattern

Fat Quarter Dash is a stash buster quilt pattern! So while I technically didn’t dig into my stash for this one, it is perfect for that! Recently, I replenished my fabric stash with a ton of new bundles.

I mostly collect fat quarter bundles and write most of my patterns around them. I don’t have an overwhelming amount of fabric myself and try to keep it manageable at all times. Personally I feel overwhelmed when I have too much fabric in my stash.

But I know that is not the case for all quilters! I know so many of you have more fabric than you know what to do with and even struggle to use it at times. That is why I started the stash buster quilt pattern series!

My hope is that you can grab one of the stash buster quilt patterns, a stack of fat quarters and start sewing!

Easy beginner friendly quilt pattern

Fat Quarter Dash is a quick and easy beginner friendly quilt pattern! I have a few beginner friendly patterns in the Quilty Love pattern library but didn’t have an obvious choice for brand new quilters. This quilt pattern is written with brand new quilters in mind.

Fat Quarter Dash is a simple block based quilt and would be a really great first time quilt.

I have been sewing like crazy these past few months because it is one of the few things I can do with the toddler around. Mostly I sew at the kitchen island while she plays nearby. And she is always nearby…haha. Can you spot her in the photo above.

I find if I stand at the kitchen island she will play on her own for the most part. She will have my sewing room torn apart in three seconds flat so I don’t get to spend as much time in there lately. Mostly just nap time.

Long Arm Quilting

I sent this Purl Fat Quarter Dash quilt off to Jenae at Vintage Stitch for quilting. She long arm quilted this beautiful orange peel design. It really pops on that black backing fabric.

Blossoms wideback fabric

I backed this Ruby Star Society Fat Quarter Dash with a wideback… surprise, surprise..haha. This is the the Riley Blake Blossoms wideback in black.

The RSS purl fabric line has some hints of black in it so I thought it would work out well as the backing.

I didn’t quite think through the creamsicle binding color though. It looks a little too Halloween for me..haha. I made the binding while the quilt was at the quilters and didn’t think about how it would look next to the black. The binding is Kona cotton in the color Nectarine.

Fat Quarter Dash quilt pattern sizes

Fat Quarter Dash includes instructions for all the quilt sizes baby through king! You can sew this quilt up as a baby size, small throw size, large throw size, twin size, queen size or king size.

I have all of your bed quilt sizes covered in this stash buster quilt pattern. This Ruby Star Society version is the large throw size.

You can see the quilting design below. Isn’t it pretty!? The name of this pantograph is Interlocked Orange Peel.

Ruby Star Society fabrics

I really love quilting with the Ruby Star Society fabrics. They are a lighter weight cotton and make the softest quilts. They are especially soft when you use Ruby Star for both the front and the backing. I think of them as a perfect summer quilt or lighter weight quilt.

Ruby Star fabrics are silkier like a lawn fabric. They can be used for garments or for quilting. What I love about them is that they are silky without being slippery or stiff. If you have never quilted with their fabrics you might be surprised by their lighter weight texture. But I find that they sew up really nicely in quilts.
