Today I’m sharing this Ruby Star Society Stay Gold Hexie Framed quilt! I recently updated the Hexie Framed quilt pattern so this was the second sample quilt I made to test out the updates.
Hexie Framed is a fun and modern half hexie quilt pattern. It comes in two hexie sizes and this Stay Gold Hexie Framed quilt is the larger hexie. The larger hexie goes together a little faster than the original smaller hexies and is fat quarter friendly.

Ruby Star Society Stay Gold Fabric
The Stay Gold fabric line by Melody Miller for Ruby Star Society is such a bright and cheery one. It has a good mix of scale in the prints and I thought it would work well for this larger hexie size in the Hexie Framed Quilt.
The background of this Stay Gold Hexie Framed quilt is a Ruby Star Society Grid fabric. Grid has been discontinued but this Speckled basic is a good replacement.
Hexie Framed Quilt Pattern
I recently updated the Hexie Framed quilt pattern to include additional sizes in this larger hexie. The original Hexie Framed quilt pattern had a smaller hexie and I’ve added a few options over the years. Well I finally decided to completely re-write the pattern and clean it up a little recently.
The updated pattern includes more sizes in this larger hexie and includes a new cutting option for faster piecing. The quilt pattern includes templates but I highly recommend this triangle ruler instead.

Pre-cut friendly quilt pattern
Hexie Framed works with fat eighths and fat quarters. The smaller hexie option works with jelly roll strips.

Modern Half Hexie Quilt Pattern
Hexie Framed is the very first Quilty Love quilt pattern. It’s a modern hexie quilt that is pieced as half hexies. This means that it is sewn traditionally and no Y seams are used.
I enjoy making this larger size hexie quilt because it pieces so much faster than the original smaller hexie.
Hexie Framed Quilt Pattern sizes
The Hexie Framed quilt pattern now has tons of options! Choose a small or large hexie and sew up any of these sizes that are included in the pattern:
- Baby or Crib size quilt
- Small throw size or lap size quilt
- Large throw size quilt
- Twin size bed quilt
- Queen / King bed size quilt (large hexie only)
This Stay Gold Hexie Framed quilt is a small throw size.
Long Arm quilting
I sent this Stay Gold Hexie Framed quilt off to Vintage Stitch for long arm quilting. Jenae chose this pantograph for me and I’m not sure what it is called. It works well with the very geometric shapes in the quilt top 🙂
Minky quilt backing
Just like the other Hexie Framed quilt I sewed up recently this one is also backed in a purple Shannon Cuddle wide minky.
