Today I’m sharing a free pattern! This is the free Scrappy Corners quilt. It’s a very simple quilt to sew up using a solid background and your scrap stash!

Scrap stash quilt pattern
Each summer I enjoy making a quilt using my scrap stash and last summer it was this simple and modern Scrappy Corners quilt. I used a rainbow of colors from my scrap bins to create this one.
You can see the colors I used in the photos below. The pattern includes an estimate of the color ratios used.
It’s kind of become a tradition to want to dig into my scrap bins during the summer months.
The background white fabric is Kona Cotton in Natural.
Hand quilting
I thought this one would be such a fun one to add some hand quilting stitches. It’s a very minimalist design and this quilting pattern worked out perfectly with the number of squares in this quilt.
The quilting design starts with a hand quilted X through the very center. Then I machine quilted 2 inch spaced lines in a V shape on all four sides of the quilt.
I’m pretty sure I did all of the machine quilting first and just got kind of lucky how perfectly it all worked out. So I would recommend marking the center X and then machine quilting all of the rest before hand quilting.
Next, I hand quilted 1 inch spaced lines between the machine quilting, I used an assortment of brightly colored size 8 pearl cotton thread. I love how the quilting then becomes part of the overall quilt design on this one.
