Modern Scandinavian Tree Rows Quilt – Perfect Holiday Quilt Pattern

Today I’m excited to share the brand new Tree Rows quilt. Tree Rows is a festive Scandinavian-inspired design that brings cozy charm to any home. With its clean lines and minimalist pine tree rows, this quilt is a blend of traditional holiday spirit and modern design.

You can find the Tree Rows quilt pattern in the Quilty Love pattern shop. This one also includes a table runner and pillow option!

Tree Rows Quilt Pattern

The Tree Rows Quilt Pattern is designed for quilters of all skill levels. Whether you’re a confident beginner or an experienced stitcher, this pattern offers simple, traditional piecing that’s both fun and satisfying. There are lots of sizes included and even a couple of bonus projects – A table runner and a pillow cover.

Design Features

  • Rows of Trees: Each row features crisp, graphic pine trees, giving your quilt a clean, modern look.
  • Color Options: Choose bold solids, subtle neutrals, or a wintry palette. This design truly shines in solid fabrics, highlighting the modern Scandinavian aesthetic. Create an ombré effect with each row fading from light to dark for a beautiful, contemporary touch.
  • Multiple Sizes: The pattern includes 5 quilt sizes from baby to twin so you can create the perfect quilt for any space. Plus, bonus instructions for a coordinating table runner and pillow cover!

Art Gallery Pure Solids

I’ve really been drawn to the Art Gallery Pure Solids lately mostly because I really love the shades of solids they offer. A lot of them are more muted and just really beautiful. I purchased this festive half yard bundle from Morgan Kelly Quilts.

The colors shown here are Hunter Fields, Eucalyptus, Blushing, Cinnamon, Desert Dunes, and London Red.

Gingham backing

I’ve kind of been smitten with gingham backings lately and have quite a few options on hand right now. This Art Gallery Small Plaid of my Dreams is a newer addition. It’s a nice classic gingham and feels nice and festive for this holiday quilt.

Crosshatch grid quilting on a domestic machine

I decided to quilt up this fun and festive holiday quilt myself since it’s a smaller throw and I was on a bit of a time crunch. I went with a simple crosshatch design.

These are 1 inch spaced 45 degree lines.

I mark every three inches using a hera marker to keep it nice and straight. Then I fill in between those lines using the guide that came with my walking foot. My lines stay MUCH straighter when I take the time to mark throughout the entire quilt. It’s a little more time consuming but worth it to me.

I spray basted this quilt using 505 spray. I’ve been working on pin basting but still turn to spray when I want it ready quickly and because I still get better results with spray. I didn’t quite trust myself with pins on these solids since loose or pulled fabric will be much more noticeable than with a busier print.

Perfect for the Holidays (and Beyond!)

Whether you’re looking for a Christmas quilt or a year-round Scandinavian-inspired accent, Tree Rows is versatile enough to use year round. Its minimalist design pairs beautifully with modern homes, cozy cabins, or festive holiday settings.

Beginner-Friendly, Yet Satisfying for Experienced Quilters

No templates or complicated techniques are needed with this one – just simple, traditional piecing. Beginners will find the instructions clear and easy to follow, while experienced quilters can enjoy experimenting with colors, ombré effects, and fabric combinations.

Bring Your Home Holiday-Ready with Tree Rows

There’s something magical about handmade quilts, and the Tree Rows Quilt Pattern makes it easy to create a quilt that’s modern, festive, and uniquely yours. Make one for your home, or stitch a meaningful handmade gift for someone special this holiday season.

Bonus projects in the pattern – a pillow cover and table runner

Tree Rows includes a couple of smaller projects for those who don’t often tackle larger quilts. I’m excited to offer a table runner and pillow cover option in this one.

The pillow cover is constructed using just 4 blocks and some sashing. I’ve included a simple beginner-friendly envelope style pillow backing.

Here’s that gingham again! I used Fableism Queen of Hearts gingham in Maraschino. I paired it with a classic larger scale black and white gingham backing.

And for a whimsical touch – I hand quilted this pillow cover! If you have been wanting to try hand quilting then a small project like this is the way to go! Try it out on something smaller before committing to an entire quilt.

I used an 8wt Perle cotton thread and these big stitch needles. You’ll also need an 18 inch pillow insert. If you already have inserts on hand then consider expanding the borders to match your size. Just keep in mind that it might require extra fabric.

Tree Rows Table Runner

This project kind of came about accidentally. I sewed up this row of trees but didn’t think the shade was working well in the quilt. So I put it to good use as a table runner. The color is Aurora Red. I finished it off with that same gingham backing and binding.

Coloring pages in Pre-Quilt

I’ve added Tree Rows to Pre-quilt! This is a free option for you to test out colors before you sew one up. This is super helpful for those of us who are more visual and just need to see it before selecting colors. All of your favorite solid brands are there so you can even try out solids you have on hand to see if they will work.
