Today I’m sharing this bright and colorful Hole Punch Star Pop II quilt! This is also one that I started last year at the same time as the original Star Pop quilt. So the blocks were all made up and I recently sewed them into a quilt top.
Star Pop II is the newest Quilty Love pattern. It was designed and written at the same time as the original Star Pop but released a year apart.
For this colorful quilt I decided to arrange it in a rainbow fade in color order.
The Star Pop II quilt pattern is now in the Quilty Love pattern shop.
Star Pop II quilt pattern
Star Pop II is a fun and modern sawtooth star quilt pattern. It’s a fast and easy one and good for the beginner quilter. It features a patchwork background perfect for fat quarters or layer cakes in your fabric stash. The construction of these stars guarantees sharp points so no worries of losing any star points on this one.

Hole Punch fabric by Ruby Star Society
Hole Punch Dot is a newer basic by Ruby Star Society and I ended up with a fat quarter bundle of it last year. There are so many different ways you can use this fabric and since it’s a basic it’s a good stash blender. I decided to use the entire rainbow of color all together in one quilt.
What I couldn’t decide was if I should keep it in rainbow order or in random order. You can see both options below. In this case, I polled Instagram and they choose the rainbow order. I was leaning that way so it was good validation to go that route. 🙂
It’s still so cute in random order. And speaking of cute…. oh my goodness it’s weird to see that tiny toddler exactly a year ago.
I started piecing this Hole Punch Star Pop II quilt last year but I finished it recently on my new Juki! I’ve really been enjoying the Juki for piecing. It’s fast and responsive.
This one sure added some bright color to my sewing room 🙂
Long Arm Quilting
This Hole Punch Star Pop II was sent off to Modern Textiles for long arm quilting. I knew as soon as I finished the quilt top that I wanted to use these heart baptist fans. I love this pantograph. It’s such a fun playful quilting design.
Backing and binding
This Hole Punch Star Pop quilt uses a Ruby Star Society Speckled Wide Back in teal. I used the same fabric as the binding.
This Hole Punch Star Pop II quilt was fun to photograph because it was so bright and colorful.
Did you spot the imperfection? I made these blocks last year and needed to make a few more this year to finish it up. Well… I forgot I was using a solid white as the stars and made the additional blocks with Ruby Star Speckled. I made all of the blocks before I realized what I did and I didn’t have any more fabric so I left them as is. I actually don’t mind it. Keeps it interesting 😉
I’m so out of the habit of using solid white fabric that I automatically reached for my new favorite white replacement… that Ruby Star Speckled in white gold.
