  • Once all the layers are smoothed out then it’s time for pins! 🧷🧷🧷 🔹 Quilting pins are slightly bent making them easier to grab all of the layers. 🔹 Add pins about a hand width apart. 🔹 Work in sections adding lots of pins, then closing lots of pins. 🔹 Find yourself a pin closer tool like this Kwik Klip because it saves your fingers and is so much easier. 🔹Once my quilt is basted I try to minimize handling. I hope this helps! I’ve struggled with pin basting for so long but feel like I’m finally getting better quilting results and am hoping this might help some of you do the same.   • I am FINALLY getting better results with pin basting! 🙌🏻 🧷🧷🧷. I’ve always been a spray baster and struggled with pins but that’s finally changing. The biggest change I’ve made is to skip the taping. I’m finding that tons of smoothing and flipping seems to work better for pin basting than taping. Don’t be shy about flipping. I probably flipped and smoothed no fewer than 5 times. And OMG… just tried using the counter today for the first time and it’s SO MUCH BETTER. 😳😳😳 I’d love to hear any and all tips you have when it comes to pin basting.
