The Bonnie and Camille Postage Stamp quilt
Today I’m sharing my Bonnie and Camille fabrics Postage Stamp quilt. Somehow I tucked this one away before it made it on the blog. I pulled it out recently to share in my newsletter and decided it should get a blog post before it gets put away again.
This is a classic Postage Stamp quilt using all of my Bonnie and Camille scraps. The quilters tell me a true postage stamp quilt has one inch squares and this one has 1.5 inch but I’m still calling it a Postage stamp. 🙂
I used this tutorial by Red Pepper Quilts. Rita’s is all scrappy so for mine I used a solid for every other strip.

Bonnie and Camille scrappy quilt
For the longest time I set aside all of my Bonnie and Camille scraps. I couldn’t bring myself to mix them into my main scraps. Their fabric lines always worked so well together and I knew I wanted to make a scrappy quilt with them.
A postage stamp quilt had been on my list for a while so it was fun to finally sew one up last year. I think I worked on this last summer. (Or maybe even the summer before!)
Postage Stamp quilt
A postage stamp quilt is a scrappy quilt where each square measures 1 inch. Or 1.5 inch in this case. The idea is that the square is the size of a postage stamp.
It’s a great way to use up those smaller scraps since you only need 2 inch strips. I used the Red Pepper Quilts tutorial where you strip piece 2 inch strips and then make your blocks from those.

Rather than keep it all scrappy like Rita did, I used a linen solid for every other strip to break up those scraps. Although, looking at hers just now has me wanting to try a full scrappy version next.
And revisiting these photos has me really itching to sew one up again soon. Maybe this summer?

This scrappy postage stamp quilt is a pretty good size throw! I made quite a few blocks. I don’t have the exact number anymore since I made it so long ago.

Long Arm quilting
I sent this scrappy quilt off to Modern Textiles for quilting.
And it’s finished off with a navy gingham binding.
