Warp and Weft Wovens Lucky Log Cabins quilt

Today I’m sharing this Warp and Weft Wovens Lucky Log Cabins quilt. I have been wanting to make a Lucky Log Cabins using the Ruby Star Society Warp and Weft Fabrics ever since I got my hand on it. So last fall I made that happen using random leftover cuts of the original Warp and Weft wovens.

Lucky Log Cabins is such fast and fun quilt to sew up and I have made quite a few of of them now. This stash buster quilt pattern looks great in any fabric! Use a curated bundle in your stash or create your own fabric bundle using assorted fabrics from your stash.

The Lucky Log Cabins quilt pattern has tons of size options and is very stash friendly since you can use 2.5 inch strips.

The Lucky Log Cabins quilt pattern is in the Quilty Love pattern shop.

Lucky Log Cabins Quilt Pattern

Lucky Log Cabins is one of the stash buster quilt patterns in the Quilty Love stash buster series. And a stash buster it is! What makes this quilt so great is that it works with such a wide variety of fabrics. It doesn’t require any background fabric so you can freely mix lights and darks and not worry too much about placement.

If you have a fabric bundle in your stash that you don’t know what to use it on, this quilt will work!

You can use fat quarters, fat eighths, jelly roll strips or basically any 2.5 inch strips from your stash.

It’s a fast and fun one that doesn’t require much thinking or planning.

Ruby Star Society Warp and Weft Wovens

I have used these original Ruby Star Society Warp and Weft wovens quite a few times now. They are one of my favorite fabric lines. I love the colors but mostly I love how they create the softest quilt ever. These are wovens so they are a looser weave fabric.

These original wovens are getting a little harder to find but you might have luck here on Etsy.

Not every quilter loves sewing with fabrics like these because they are more finicky. While I would prefer to sew with a crisp cotton, I don’t mind these because the end result is worth it to me.

When sewing with wovens it’s always a good idea to pre-wash and use a smaller stitch length. I usually use a stitch length of about 1.8. I will admit though that I rarely pre-wash and really haven’t had any issues as a result of that.

I would also recommend a little denser quilting to help reinforce and hold those seams together.

I really tried to show the drape in these photos. Woven quilts have the best drape especially when the backing is either another woven fabric or a minky fabric like this one. Our favorite quilts here that we all want to use are woven with minky backings.

Long Arm quilting

I sent this Warp and Weft Wovens Lucky Log Cabins quilt off to Modern Textiles for quilting. We used Katie’s Blender pantograph for this one.

Minky Backing

The backing is a Shannon Cuddle wide minky in the color Platinum. I love using the wide option because you don’t need to piece it for the quilt back.

My labels are from Dutch Labels.

This Warp and Weft Wovens Lucky Log Cabins is a nice generous throw size quilt. The Lucky Log Cabins quilt pattern includes 8 sizes options in the pattern!
