Today I’m excited to share this new quilt pattern – Diamond Pop! Diamond Pop is inspired by the very popular Star Pop pattern. Just like Star Pop it is super stash friendly. You can use fat quarters, quarter yards, fat eighths, layer cake squares or even your scrap stash. The pattern has you nesting all of your seams for nice and easy assembly.

Diamond Pop Quilt Pattern
The new Diamond Pop quilt pattern was inspired by two things – first the popular Star Pop quilt pattern. And the second is our fabric stash. 🙂 The goal was to create another stash friendly pattern where you can easily pull something from your stash to start sewing.
Star Pop has been a customer favorite so I tweaked the design a little to give you another option to sew up. This Diamond Pop has a little simpler piecing.
Diamond Pop can be sewn up using any of the following fabric options:
- Fat Quarters
- Quarter Yards
- Fat Eighths
- Layer Cake Squares (10″ squares)
- Or your scrap stash!
And just like Star Pop it also has tons of quilt sizes.
Stash Friendly quilt pattern
I’ve been trying to use my stash more lately so both of these quilts were stash fabric pulls. My fabrics are a mix of fat quarters, quarter yards and fat eighths. I’ll usually pull the fabrics I want to use and then divide them by the total number of blocks so I know how many block sets to cut from each one. Or I’ll just keep cutting until I have enough sets cut out – pulling more fabrics from my stash as needed.
For the reds – I wanted it to be really heavy on the reds and oranges so those are the dominant colors. Then I added just a sprinkling of the aquas and yellows.
For the blue green version – I focused heavily on the blues and greens and then added the blacks as an accent. I first had mustard instead of black which also could have worked well but decided I liked the look of the black fabrics.
Wavy Stitch settings – Stitch 8 on this machine. Stitch length – 3.0. Stitch Width – 7.0.

Machine quilting the wavy stitch and the zig zag stitch
I quilted both of these samples up myself using my Janome MC6700p sewing machine. I went with my two favorite options – the wavy stitch and the multi stitch (or 3 stitch) zig zag. I tried something new though! And that is super dense 1/2 inch spaced lines.
I often quilt 3/4 inch spaced so this is just a bit tighter but I really love the overall texture these tighter lines provided. I’ll definitely be doing this again!
I like to start with one inch lines and quilt edge to edge without flipping. And then I go back and fill in 1/2 inch spaced lines.
I spray basted both of these quilts using 505 spray.
Multi Stitch Zig Zag settings – Stitch 6 on this machine. Stitch length – 3.0. Stitch Width – 7.0.

These quilts were so enjoyable to sew up! I’m looking forward to maybe doing a scrap stash version next. Maybe a rainbow fade one. We shall see!
Here’s a side by side of the zig zag vs wavy stitch. Both options give a similar feel. I think the multi stitch zig zag is a more common stitch that machines will have. Your machine might handle it better also.
My smaller Janome has the wavy stitch but I could never get the tension to work with it. It did however do the zig zag option just fine.
