Easy Plus Quilt Pattern – Sew the Plus Pop Quilt in a weekend
Today I’m sharing another look at the Plus Pop Quilt Pattern – a modern plus quilt that’s super fun to sew up. This pattern has quickly become a favorite for good reason. It’s fast, beginner friendly, and the perfect stash buster quilt to sew when you want something simple and satisfying.
The Plus Pop Quilt is built around one repeating block that’s easy to piece and comes together beautifully. Whether you’re a brand-new quilter or just looking for a quick project, this easy beginner quilt pattern is a perfect weekend sew.
Grab a stack of fat quarters, mix in a few scraps, or add your favorite low volume fabrics for the background. Plus Pop is quick, easy and fun to sew up.

A Modern Quilt Pattern That’s Stash Friendly
If your fabric stash is overflowing (and whose isn’t?), the Plus Pop Quilt is here to help. It’s designed with flexibility in mind – use fat eighths, fat quarters, or even scraps for the plus blocks. You can easily pull from your stash to create a completely unique, scrappy look.
This pattern’s simple block construction means less time cutting and more time sewing. And thanks to the pressing guide, your seams nest perfectly without the need for pins – making it a dream project for beginner quilters and experienced makers alike.

Swedish Holiday Plus Pop version
The Plus Pop Quilt shown here is made with the beautiful Swedish Holiday woven collection by The House that Lars Built for Fableism.
The collection blends colorful plaids, playful geometrics, soft florals, and classic stripes for that perfectly relaxed, handmade feel. I love how these wovens bring extra texture and movement to the quilt.

Pre-washing Wovens
I did pre-wash all of these fabrics before cutting into them. I only pre-wash Fableism Wovens because they do shrink up quite a bit more than a quilting cotton. Pre-washing pre-shrinks them so there are no popped seams or surprises down the road with the quilt.
Quilting with wovens
I’m a big fan of sewing with wovens because I absolutely love the added texture they bring to a quilt. Plus they make for really soft and drapey quilts. But I do these things when sewing with wovens:
- Prewash the fabric – This is the only time I prewash fabric. Only for these looser weave wovens because they shrink quite a bit more than a regular quilting cotton. Keep in mind they shrink ALOT! So account for that in any pattern you use them in.
- Use a smaller stitch length – I use a stitch length of about 1.8 when sewing wovens. These have a little looser weave making them a little more prone to fraying so a tight stitch length will help keep them secure for the long run.
- Press seams to the side – I’m becoming more and more of a side presser but pressing to the side give a stronger seam so no bursting seams down the road.

Quilt Sizes Included
The Plus Pop Quilt Pattern includes five size options, making it easy to sew exactly what you need:
- Baby size: 48″ x 56″
- Square throw: 64″ x 64″
- Large throw: 64″ x 72″
- Full size: 80″ x 96″
- Queen/King size: 96″ x 104″
Each version comes together quickly and looks great in a range of styles like this bright and cheerful Swedish Holiday one or a more subdued low volume version.

Whether you’re a new quilter looking for an easy beginner quilt pattern or an experienced maker ready for a quick, fun finish, the Plus Pop Quilt Pattern is a must-try. It’s fat quarter friendly, stash busting, and endlessly customizable.
