Scrappy Star Baby quilt – A scrap stash Star Fall quilt
Today I’m sharing this scrappy Star Fall baby quilt. I almost forgot about this one! This one was sewn up last year. Almost a year ago. I’m slowly working through my stack of quilts and getting them all on the blog. It’s actually getting smaller!
This quilt is the Star Fall quilt pattern sewn up scrappy. Rather than using fat quarters (for this baby size) for each column, I cut all of my pieces from my scrap bins. So each column used a different scrap bin.
The Star Fall quilt pattern is available in the Quilty Love pattern shop.

Star Fall quilt pattern
Star Fall came out quite a few years ago now. It’s a simple sawtooth star quilt pattern where each column is a different print or solid. The stars are assembled using the four at a time no waste flying geese method.
Star Fall includes a crib size quilt, a throw size quilt and a king size quilt. The star block increases with each size of the quilt so each size has the same 5 columns.
Baby sized scrap stash Star Fall
I really like making this quilt using my scrap stash instead of the yardage (or fat quarters that the baby size uses.) Just swap out all of the cuts with random scrappy cuts. I like to use a different color scrap bin for each column.
This one is in the blue and green family. I’ve also made this quilt in a really fun pastel rainbow version.

Riley Blake Swiss Dots stars
The star fabric in this Star Fall quilt is Riley Blake Swiss dots in aqua. It’s such a great subtle print that works well in place of a solid white.

Wavy stitch domestic machine quilting
I finished off this cute little baby star quilt with the wavy stitch. It always brings the texture. You can check out my wavy stitch tutorial here.
Gingham backing and binding
This baby sized Star Fall quilt is finished off with a classic black and white gingham by Riley Blake.
I often use the backing fabric as the binding. There’s a couple of reasons for this. One is that you can usually use the backing cut offs to make the binding. And the second reason is that sometimes it’s hard to find a binding to match both the front and the back. Using the backing usually eliminates that issue.
