Meadowland quilt - The VandCo Color Me Happy one

Today I’m sharing a quilt from a couple of years ago! I only finished it recently and am finally getting around to blogging it.

I started this VandCo Meadowland quilt a few houses ago..lol. I remember working on this quilt in my newly finished basement sewing studio. I wasn’t in that studio for long before I decided to move my sewing studio to the main floor for better access to the family.

This Meadowland quilt pattern is by Then Came June.

VandCo’s Color Me Happy fabric line has always been a favorite of mine. It’s out of print and harder to find but I’ve collected quite a bit of it over the years. I think this quilt is one of the first quilts that I’ve actually used this hoarded fabric.

Meadowland is a fat quarter friendly quilt so it was perfect for the fat quarters I had been stashing.

Meadowland is huge! I made the larger throw size. I love huge quilts. I much prefer a really large throw size to a smaller lap size.

This quilt was the perfect quilt pattern to use these hoarded Color me Happy fabrics since it blends them all together so beautifully.

I finally finished this quilt recently in my current studio…ha. I didn’t take any photos of the process but I quilted this one myself. I free motion quilted it using my Janome MC6700p. I quilted a stipple pattern. Or at least attempted a stipple pattern.

My free motion quilting needs a lot of improvement but despite that I really enjoy doing it. This is one of those quilts where I just enjoyed the process of quilting it which is probably why I have no pictures to show for it. It was all about the enjoyment with this one.

Meadowland is a big quilt so it was a really good free motion practice quilt.

You can see the stipple quilting a little better in this photo below. I don’t know if you can quite call this a stipple pattern but either way I enjoyed the quilting process. That’s all that matters, right?! lol

This really big Meadowland is backed in a Carolyn Friedlander crosshatch wideback. I use wide backs whenever I can so anytime I can find a nice neutral one like this I stock up.
