Triangle Hexies quilt – a hexie quilt

Today I’m sharing another Triangle Hexies quilt from quite a while back! This one was sewn up 3 years ago and somehow was never shared. Triangle Hexies is a hexie quilt with sashing that goes together using 60 degree triangles. This sample is sewn up using the Ruby Star Society Curio fabric line.

The Triangle Hexies quilt pattern is available in the Quilty Love pattern shop.

Triangle Hexies Quilt Pattern

Triangle Hexies is one of the early Quilty Love patterns. I’ve made quite a few of these ones over the years and always find them enjoyable to sew up. They always go together faster than I think they will.

Triangle Hexies goes together using 60 degree triangles. If you have sewn triangles then you should have no problem sewing this one up. And if you haven’t then you might be surprised that they aren’t as intimidating as you think!

Quilting fabrics cut into triangles on a white cutting mat

Triangle Hexies starts with 60 degree triangles. I always use the flat tipped triangles for my patterns so I recommend this ruler. Or the pattern has templates you can download if needed. If your triangle ruler doesn’t have that flat tip then it might not work out.

The quilt pattern has instructions for four sizes: baby, throw, twin bed size and a queen bed size.

I’ve included pressing instructions so that your seams will nest up with quilt top assembly. It’s really helpful when they do! The nested seams help line everything up and helps to keep those center hexie points nice and sharp.

Long Arm Quilting

I sent this Triangle Hexies quilt off to Modern Textiles for quilting. We chose paradoxical (again) by Long Arm League. I’m pretty sure I’ve used this pantograph on three different Triangle Hexie quilts.

Curio fabrics by Ruby Star Society

This Triangle Hexies quilt is sewn up using a Curio fat quarter bundle by Ruby Star Society. The sashing is their speckled fabric and the backing is Add it up. I think it’s the color Earth.
