Home Run Quilt – A baseball quilt pattern

The Home Run quilt pattern is finally available! This baseball quilt is perfect for all of the baseball fans in your life.

Home Run is a couple of years in the making. My husband actually designed this baseball quilt pattern and has been begging me to make it for him for years.

I finally appeased him this year and sewed it up. I do have to admit that it is kind of fun and I can see how baseball fans are going to love this quilt.

Matt’s original idea for this quilt was to have one baseball diamond for each of the 30 professional baseball teams. The baseball diamonds are arranged by division so they are in some kind of specific order.

Two baseball quilt versions

My spin on it was to make it a one team quilt so quilters can sew it up in their favorite team colors. The pattern includes both versions.

Sew up the single team baseball quilt in favorite professional team colors or even your local team colors. For example, your son or daughter’s high school team colors or your granddaughter or grandson’s league colors.

Single Team baseball quilt pattern

The Home Run quilt actually sews up pretty fast. It’s an easy quilt pattern to make, especially the single team version. The single team baseball quilt pattern is made up of just three colors plus your sashing color.

At 60in x 73in it’s a nice generous throw size baseball quilt. You can always size up or down by adding or omitting blocks.

Blocks are trimmed to size making the assembly of the quilt top easy and accurate.

My Home Run single team baseball quilt is made up in the Seattle Mariner’s colors. There are quite a few Mariner’s fans in my house. My eleven year old claimed this quilt when he saw me making it. He’s pretty excited to have his own baseball quilt.

I quilted this baseball quilt with a grid pattern. It’s just one inch straight lines going both vertically and horizontally. I used my Janome MC6700p to piece and quilt.

The Robert Kaufman Kona colors used for this quilt are Emerald, Navy, Silver and Ash.

The backing is a Riley Blake wideback in plaid.

Of course we had to include our newest Mariner fan in a few photos.

Find the specific solids for your favorite team in the pattern listing.

30 Team baseball quilt pattern

The 30 team baseball quilt includes one baseball diamond block from each of the 30 MLB teams.

The blocks are then arranged by division. I don’t know much about baseball but this makes sense to my husband and hopefully other baseball fans..ha.

You can arrange your own 30 team Home Run quilt as shown or in a random layout dispersing the colors

I used all Kona Cotton Solids for this baseball quilt. Solids needed for the 30 team version are:
White
Mulberry
Silver
Tan
Poppy
Water
Goldfish
Black
Royal
Coral
Navy
Emerald
Ash
Canary
Leprechaun

My husband is finally getting a quilt and hes pretty thrilled about it. Its even his own design!

This is the perfect husband quilt for those of you quilters who have husbands waiting for their quilts 😉 It only took me 6+ years to make one for Matt…ha.

This baseball quilt was quilted by Knot and Thread. I picked out this baseball quilting design.

This 30 team Home Run baseball quilt is backed in a super soft linen by Robert Kaufman. I liked the grid pattern and thought it went well with the busy quilt top.

There are plenty of MLB fabrics available as quilt backs too! You will find just about every team here.

Find Home Run in the Quilty Love shop. I can’t wait to see your favorite team quilts start popping up! Use the hashtag #HomeRunQuilt on Instagram and tag me 🙂
