Scrappy Star Pop baby quilt

Today I’m sharing a scrappy Star Pop baby quilt. Star Pop is the newest pattern in the Quilty Love pattern shop and it’s stash and scrap friendly.

For this scrappy Star Pop baby quilt, I dug through my blue scrap bins and low volume fabrics.

Star Pop is a fun and modern sawtooth star quilt. The quilt pattern comes in sizing from baby size all the way up to king size.

Star Pop is stash friendly since you can use many different size pre-cuts including your scrap stash.

Scrappy Star Pop baby quilt

Star Pop is a scrappy friendly since each block uses less than 10 inches of fabric. My blue scrap bin is always overflowing so I decided to use blues for this cute little baby size quilt.

For the stars, I used an assortment of low volume fabrics in my stash. So this Star Pop baby quilt was made entirely with my fabric stash.

I find scrappy quilts so satisfying to sew up since they use up that leftover fabric. I sometimes wonder how many scrappy quilts I would have to make to use up all the scraps…lol. I’m pretty sure that number would be ALOT.

Star Pop Quilt Pattern

Star Pop is a fun and modern sawtooth star quilt pattern.

This stash friendly quilt pattern can use the following precuts: Fat quarters, layer cake squares, fat eighths or quarter yards. You do need to make sure your fat eighths and quarter yards are a full 9 inches though.

Star Pop also ended up being scrappy friendly since each block uses less than 10 inches of fabric.

All the quilt sizes

The Star Pop quilt pattern includes all the quilt sizes in the instructions. Use this quilt pattern to make the following sizes:

  • Baby size quilt
  • Small throw size quilt
  • Large throw size quilt
  • Twin bed size quilt
  • Full bed size quilt
  • Queen bed size quilt
  • King bed size quilt

Straight line machine quilting

I quilted up this scrappy Star Pop baby quilt myself using simple straight lines.

I tried a new (to me) quilting design on this scrappy Star Pop baby quilt. Instead of just single spaced straight lines using a walking foot, I did double lines.

The double lines are about 1/8 inch spaced.

So first I quilted straight lines at one inch intervals. Then I went back in and added the second line about 1/8 inch from the first line. Just be sure to add that second line on the same side of each line so they end up evenly spaced.

It was a really simple quilting technique but ended up being a little more interesting than single spaced lines.

Riley Blake Wide Back backing

I used a grey Blossoms wideback by Riley Blake for the backing of this scrappy Star Pop baby quilt. The binding is Kona Cotton in denim.
