Baby Expanding Stars Quilt – Sweet Prairie

Today is my turn on the Sweet Prairie Blog Tour!  I used this beautiful new Riley Blake fabric line to make a baby Expanding Stars quilt.  (Find the pattern here.)

Sedef’s new line Sweet Prairie for Riley Blake is such a sweet collection of corals, aquas and yellows.  I’m especially smitten with the aquas in this fabric line.

Check out Sedef’s blog Down Grapevine Lane for more inspiration using this brand new Riley Blake fabric line.

Find the full fabric line at the Fat Quarter Shop.

Expanding Stars quilt uses a handful of prints so I chose some of my favorites from Sweet Prairie.  If you have ever sewn with Riley Blake fabrics you know how soft they are!  I’m pretty sure they are the softest fabrics of all the manufacturers.  I really enjoy sewing them up. The reds and corals in the Sweet Prairie line are such beautiful tones.  I’ve become more and more smitten with reds in my quilting lately so I was excited to incorporate them in.

This baby Expanding Stars Quilt is pieced and quilted on the Janome MC6700P that I am currently reviewing.  It quilts like a dream and does straight lines so effortlessly.   These straight lines are quilted 3/4in apart.  Straight line quilting was a fast and easy way to finish off this baby quilt. The coral gingham binding is my favorite part of this baby quilt.  This print has a few different colorways.

I backed my baby Expanding Stars quilt in this Riley Blake red gingham.

This Sweet Prairie Expanding stars baby quilt is ready to be gifted to a new baby girl.  You can make your own using the Expanding Stars quilt pattern and Sweet Prairie fabrics.
