I’m happy to say my Scrappy Trip Around the World quilt is completed! I think this is a new favorite 🙂 Except I usually say that after every quilt.
I’ve seen these types of quilts quite a bit on Pinterest since I’ve started quilting and always thought they looked really difficult to make with all of those tiny squares. It turns out they are much easier than they look! Bonnie’s tutorial on Quiltville is simple to follow and makes lining up squares a breeze. I used her pressing method for the strips.
I did not press the blocks until the entire quilt was pieced. I found it easier to interlock seams and line them up by not pressing until the top was pieced.
Quilt Photo fail! I usually make my husband hold my quilts for photos so he kind of gave me a taste of my own medicine by making me sit there and hold it up for forever 😉 hahaha
I love this and the colours are perfect!!! I hope oneday to make a scrappy quilt. The final product always looks amazing, even if you pick a higglety-pigglety array of fabric and colours.
Hello Emily: I love your scrappy trip around the world.
Could tell me how big it is and did your use a jelly roll.
Thank Esther
I LOVE this scrappy trip. I too have been looking at this pattern on Pinterest and wondering about it. I’m glad to hear that Bonnie’s pattern is as easy as some say. I especially like your choice of cool colors – blues, greens, aquas and whites make it relaxing and refreshing. If your site was on bloglovin I’d certainly follow you!
Thank you Vicki 🙂 It’s still one of my favorites! My blog is on bloglovin under QuiltyLove. I just added a bloglovin button on the sidebar 🙂
Lovely color combination. Inspiration for one of my fat quarter bundles.
