Expanding Stars Quilt Pattern – The Kona solids one
I have a newly completed quilt to share today! The Expanding Stars quilt pattern is an early Quilty Love Pattern that was remade in bold solids.
Find the Expanding Stars quilt pattern in the Quilty Love shop.
Expanding Stars is a bold graphic quilt that packs a lot of punch. It was fun to play with the large scale of this star quilt and it makes for a modern quilt. Expanding Stars is a pretty quick and easy quilt to put together and comes with all the sizes now.
Quilt sizes
The pattern includes instructions for a cute little baby size, a throw size, a large throw size, queen size and even a king size. The Expanding Stars quilt pictured here is the smaller throw size.
Great beginner quilt
The beginner quilter and novice quilter will both have no problems with this star quilt. The quilt pattern itself is a square size but add a top and bottom border if you prefer rectangle quilts.
For this version of Expanding Stars I went with bold Kona Cotton Solids in a fall color palette. There are so many options for this quilt! The pattern has a planning page for you to try out different color combos. Find the complete list of solids used in this Expanding Stars quilt below.
Try simple quilting
Expanding Stars is one of those quilts that looks great with simple quilting. In this version I simply outlined every seam with a straight line for a grid pattern. It’s easy to do on your sewing machine using a walking foot and leaves the quilt nice and drapey.
This throw size Expanding Stars is backed in a Carolyn Friedlander print that paired perfectly with the fall colors in this quilt. It is bound in one of my favorite kona colors of curry.
You can find the Expanding Stars quilt pattern in the Quilty Love Shop.
There are so many color options you can choose for Expanding Stars. One of my favorites is doing a color gradient. I really need to make one like this!
