Mod Charms – Free quilt pattern

Have you gotten your free Mod Charms quilt pattern yet?! Mod Charms is a free pattern for you when you sign up for the Quilty Love newsletter.

Mod charms is a throw size charm quilt that is great for the beginner quilter. And it’s free! Use solids or prints. Make it two tone with two colors like this one or switch it up with multiple colors. Make each medallion a different color.

This Mod Charms quilt is made using Kona Black and Kona White. It makes for a bold and modern quilt. The yellow binding adds a pop of color to this modern quilt. The yellow binding is Kona in the color curry.

This throw size quilt is backed in Essex Linen in the color black. I love the extra texture and warmth linen provides in quilts but it does shrink quite a bit so pre-washing is a good idea. You can find a full blog post about quilting with Essex Linen here.

I kept the quilting super simple on this Mod Charms quilt. I quilted alongside each seam using a walking foot on my sewing machine. This type of quilting is really beginner friendly. You just follow the seams. No need to mark anything.

Plus the spaced quilting like this is always easier for a beginner than denser quilting.

Cut charm squares from your stash or use charm precuts. Charms are a precut fabric that is 5 inches square.
