When Ruby Star Society reached out about using this Expanding Stars quilt pattern for an upcoming look book I was thrilled! I couldn’t wait to sew up these beautiful brand new Ruby Star Society fabrics.

This star quilt uses this Pop, Zip fabric line by Rashida Colman-Hale for Ruby Star Society. It’s the cutest assortment of whimsical stars, animal balloons and stripes.

The colors are bold and fun and created the most bright and playful Expanding Stars quilt.

Expanding Stars is a quick and easy quilt to sew up. This one was made up in a weekend. This Ruby Star Expanding Stars is out on tour right now…ha.. It’s being borrowed out to quilt shops as displays and making its rounds at different quilting markets.

The Expanding Stars quilt pattern can be found in the Quilty Love shop.

The quilt pattern includes instructions for a baby size, small throw, large throw, queen and king quilt.

This Ruby Star Expanding Stars quilt is the small throw. It’s still a generous size quilt at 60in square.

Expanding Stars is a quick and easy quilt pattern that is easy enough for a beginner to tackle and quick enough to sew up in a weekend.

Machine quilting

This Expanding Stars quilt is quilted with my favorite wavy stitch. It’s basically just straight line quilted using a fancy stitch on my Janome. It’s the easiest quilting ever and always looks good. I like to space my lines no more than 1in apart. I believe these are one inch spaced lines.

The wavy lines are quilted the exact same way as the multi stitch zig zags as shown in this quilting tutorial.
