Quilts using Quilty Love Patterns

Coins baby quilt

Today I’m sharing this sweet little Coins baby quilt. I made this one up a while ago using my friend Anna’s beautiful Forage fabric line for Robert Kaufman.

Anna brought some of her Forage fabric to a retreat with friends and we all took home a small bundle. With just a little bit of each fabric, Coins was the perfect quilt pattern to use. Coins is super versatile and makes a great scrap quilt.

Forage is printed on Robert Kaufman linen so I also chose a blue grey linen as the background.

Coins is part of the Quilty Love Simple Series which means it’s a super easy beginner quilt pattern.

Coins also uses all of the precut sizes. Use fat quarters, fat eighths, layer cakes, charms or even a jelly roll for the fast and easy quilt.

This grey Coins is the baby size but the pattern also includes two lap sizes, a twin size and a queen size.

The quilting on this baby quilt is done on my sewing machine. This is the first time trying something different like this. It’s straight lines using the walking foot so super easy. Quilt two lines about 1/2 inch spaced diagonally with a few inches between each set. And then repeat on the other diagonal.

When Ruby Star Society reached out about using this Expanding Stars quilt pattern for an upcoming look book I was thrilled! I couldn’t wait to sew up these beautiful brand new Ruby Star Society fabrics.

Ruby Star Society Fabrics

This star quilt uses this Pop, Zip fabric line by Rashida Colman-Hale for Ruby Star Society. It’s the cutest assortment of whimsical stars, animal balloons and stripes.

The colors are bold and fun and created the most bright and playful Expanding Stars quilt.

Expanding Stars is a quick and easy quilt to sew up. This one was made up in a weekend. This Ruby Star Expanding Stars is out on tour right now…ha.. It’s being borrowed out to quilt shops as displays and making its rounds at different quilting markets.

The Expanding Stars quilt pattern can be found in the Quilty Love shop.

The quilt pattern includes instructions for a baby size, small throw, large throw, queen and king quilt.

This Ruby Star Expanding Stars quilt is the small throw. It’s still a generous size quilt at 60in square.

Expanding Stars is a quick and easy quilt pattern that is easy enough for a beginner to tackle and quick enough to sew up in a weekend.

Machine quilting

This Expanding Stars quilt is quilted with my favorite wavy stitch. It’s basically just straight line quilted using a fancy stitch on my Janome. It’s the easiest quilting ever and always looks good. I like to space my lines no more than 1in apart. I believe these are one inch spaced lines.

The wavy lines are quilted the exact same way as the multi stitch zig zags as shown in this quilting tutorial.

Modern Star quilt

This Ruby Star Expanding Stars quilt sure turned out beautiful and modern. This quilt is a fun one to sew up as it really highlights the fabrics you choose. I’ve made quite a few now and you can find them on the blog here.

Quilty Trees Baby Quilt – The playful baby one

Quilty Trees is the newest quilt pattern in the Quilty Love shop. Today I’m sharing a baby Quilty Trees quilt.

Quilty Trees Quilt Pattern

The original Quilty Trees quilt is blogged here. The obvious choice for a tree quilt is using green fabrics. But I thought it would be super fun to see what this tree quilt looked like sewn up in these playful Ruby Star Society fabrics.

I’m lovingly referring to this one as the Dr. Seuss tree quilt. This is the baby sizes of the Quilty Trees pattern.

Ruby Star Society Fabrics

These fun and colorful fabrics are an assortment of Ruby Star Society. I had some leftover fat quarters from a previous project that I mixed together for a fun and whimsical tree quilt. I’m really loving these new fabric lines that the Ruby Star designers are coming up with.

Stash friendly quilt pattern

Quilty Trees is yet another quilt pattern in the stash/ scrap friendly Quilty Love line up. Each block uses a minimal amount of fabric making it the perfect stash quilt or scrap quilt.

Quilty Trees quilt sizes

The Quilty Trees quilt pattern includes instructions for a baby size, throw size, twin size and queen/king size. It has instructions for the blocks you see in this quilt and for a scrappier version.

My little miss crawled into my shot while I was photographing this quilt so I decided to put her to work as a quilt model ;). I absolutely adore how her tiny little fingers are playing with the quilt binding above.

Speaking of the binding… I used a wider black and white stripe to keep this quilt fun and modern. I added a little binding flair by using a scrap of orange fabric to join the binding strips.

This Quilty Trees baby quilt has a pieced backing. I rarely piece quilt backings like this. Mostly because I don’t enjoy piecing backings…ha, and I have a hard time keeping the backing lines straight when basting. But with this being a smaller size quilt I went for it. It was a good way to use up some of this fabric and it makes for a fun backing!

Wavy straight line quilting

I went with my favorite wavy line quilting for this Quilty Trees baby quilt. I needed to quilt it up quickly so this is my go to quilting stitch. It’s done exactly like the zig zag quilting tutorial found here but with the wavy stitch instead of the multi stitch zig zag.

Quilty Trees – A scrappy friendly tree quilt pattern

The Quilty Trees quilt pattern is now available in the Quilty Love shop!

Who doesn’t love a good tree quilt?! Quilty Trees is a new addition to the scrappy quilt pattern line up. Use fat quarters or fat eighths from your stash or use up your scraps for this adorable tree quilt.

Scrappy Friendly

Beginner Friendly

Quilty Trees is very beginner friendly. This tree quilt pattern is easy to follow along for the beginner quilter. It’s very forgiving since there are no seams to line up.

Use your stash!

This quilt pattern is super versatile since you can use fat eighths, fat quarters, 10in squares or your scraps! The cutting instructions are included in the quilt pattern for each size precut.

Quick and easy

Quilty Trees is a quick and easy quilt to make up! Most quilters will be able to have this one done in a day or a weekend.

I pulled a variety of solid greens for my version of Quilty Trees. I added the gingham and a subtle speckled print for some fun contrast.

This quilt is quilted on my machine using my favorite wavy stitch. It quilted up the exact same way as the multi zig zag stitch but uses the wavy stitch instead.

I kept this quilt soft and modern by using this subtle cream fabric for the backing and binding. I tend to use the backing as the binding often since it is the perfect way to use up all of that excess fabric from the backing. This quilt reminds me a little of the farmhouse style that is popular right now.

Make it scrappy

The Quilty Trees quilt pattern includes a full on scrappy option too! The instructions are included to make scrappy version using your scrap stash. I’m excited to make up this quilt below using my low volume scraps as the background and my greens as the trees.
